The Bronx, New York is a predominantly Latino neighborhood of 19,000 people that has been facing persistent difficulties due to low household incomes and high poverty levels. Despite the fact that both districts are constructing new units at the highest rate in the entire city, these new units are significantly outside the median income of residents. The city released data in December showing that children under the age of 17 had more than six times more emergency room visits for asthma related to air pollution in the Bronx compared to other neighborhoods in the counties. The Bronx is facing a multitude of issues that are making it difficult for its citizens to make ends meet.
